# One pool, two sides

Each market is one shared pool and two price curves. Buying one side lifts it — and pushes the other side down.

*Figure: Pool diagram: the COOL and SUCKS price curves rise from the market's start in opposite directions. The area under each curve is what that side's holders can take out. One shared pool below holds it all.*

## How the pool works

*Figure: COOL token and SUCKS token both trade against one shared pool. Buy: pay into the pool, get opinion tokens. Sell: return side tokens, get paid from the pool.*

Both sides trade against one shared pool. Buy a side and its price climbs along its curve; sell and it slides back down.

The two sides are linked: buying one side pushes the other side’s price down. Money flowing into **COOL** is money against **SUCKS**, and the other way round.
